This Audi oil pump chain and tensioner replacement kit fits the following vehicles and models:
AUDI engine codes: BRE, BNA, BLB, BPW

The problem with the VW 2.0 PD engine is the drive from the balance shaft to the oil pump. The oil pump is driven by a hex key drive which has inadequate engagement depth with the grooves in the slave shaft. The torsional oscillations caused by the balance shafts which damage the oil pump coupling (78mm hex key) and the chain drive to the balancer shafts before the gear driven systems came out. Latter models are fitted with a stronger and longer 100mm hex bar to prevent failure. If you need the 100mm hex bar please contact us.
This replacement kit is for the destroyed tensioner, worn sprocket and any other parts surrounded by them.
With this kit all parts included to fix your faulty chain and tensioner when your 2.0 TDI engine's pump duse and balance shaft fail and that you need to replace. The fault is caused by the weak pump duse chain drive system. Newer common rails after 2009 have been reengineered and changed to a much more reliable gear driven system. The bigger sprocket sits on the crankshaft and as the crankshaft spins it drives the chain. The chain is tensioned by the automatic tensioner which drives the smaller sprocket drives the balance shaft no. 1. The first balance shaft drives the second balance shaft through a gear. In the end of the second balance shaft there is a hex oil pump drive shaft. It is a hexagon key shaft. The oil pump is connected to the second balance shaft by this small hex allen key which drives the pump. One of the more common failure is that this oil pump key drive rounds off or the balance shaft itself rounds off. When this happens you will have a slow failure of the oil pressure. Lack of oil pressure can result a very expensive engine repairs. Older models may have longer 100mm hex key to fix this problem.
The other common problem is the big sprocket rounds off and it spins without driving the oil pump balance shaft.
