It is a common problem with BMW S55 and N55 engines that timing jumps.
Jumping timing can cause catastrophic engine damage.
It is down to poor design by BMW (M2, M3, M4 engines). There are many versions of these crankshaft hubs. 2 pin, 4 pin versions require you to drill modify your crankshaft which carries a danger to damage your crankshaft if drilling process was not successful. There is also cheaper designs with spline shaft connection but it is still a two piece design.
We offer here the very last version of this S55 crank hub upgrade. There is no better version than the 1 piece crank hub.
It makes your engine bulletproof as the small cog is embedded the hub so it will never slip and never give you timing fault codes.
We offer the final crank hub upgrade which is made of heat treated forged CrMo material.
Along with this listing we include other important parts:
Base price includes the NON drilling kit:
* Latest/final crankshaft hub (one piece design)
* Capture plate with bolts
* Blanking plates (bung seals) required to be changed when BMW crank hub conversion is done.
* M18 crankshaft stretch bolt
* Oil pump locking tool (required when S55/N55hub upgrade is carried out)
* Front crankshaft seal guard
S55/N55 seal guard provides a permanent fix to belt walk off. It is another well known problem when these S55/N55 engines leak the coolant onto the pulley the belt starts to walk off the crankshaft pulley. A piece of the shredded belt can find its way to the crankshaft seal. When timing chain picks up these pieces these can end up in your valve cover causing oil starvation and all sort of trouble. This S55 seal guard is designed to prevent this from happening.
Tightening torque:
Crankshaft hub central bolt (M18): 100Nm + 270 degree
Bolt locking flange (8x M8 bolts): 20Nm + 90 degree
At extra cost we also offer the 4 pin S55 crank hub upgrade where we provide a drilling fixture. This is an absolute fail save version of the S55 crank hub upgrade. Your timing chain would snap before the shear force would damage the 4 pins so there is absolute 100% safe fixture to the hub. You must position & time your crank hub before making the drilling. We only send this option if you select it.
