This is an upgraded timing chain kit design which resolves the problems with the earlier plastic tensioners and guides!
This is the 3rd upgraded (latest upgrade for the pre 2002 models) version timing chain kit that Jaguar produced for the following Jaguar models below. Affected models with AJ-8, AJ-V8 engine codes.
These older Jaguar models after some time are prone to cracking. Jaguar updated the timing chain tensioner design and the old plastic guides have been changed to a metal backed version. This is what we are offering on our website. This is the latest 3rd generation design. Just like above we mention this timing chain kit fit the earlier 4.0 V8 engines which were produced before 2002. After 2002 Jaguar changed their timing chain.

If you still don't know you can check your engine number. Please locate your engine number and try to find the bottom line which is the serial number of the engine.
By your serial number you can determine which timing chain kit you need to purchase. Serial numbers up to 0108122359 will have the earlier chain. All XK8 and XKR which engine serial number is lower than 0108122359 have the timing chain kit BEFORE 7/2001. If the serial number higher than 0108122359 then you need to purchase the kit for AFTER 7/2001!
