BMW 8HP45 and GS7D36SG Starter Adapter
This starter adapter is required when fitting certain newer-generation BMW gearboxes to an older BMW M or S-series engine.
Why Is This Starter Adapter Needed?
Newer BMW gearboxes use a different starter mounting arrangement. When one of these gearboxes is fitted to an older engine, there is no suitable mounting point on the gearbox bellhousing for the compatible BMW starter motor.
This adapter provides the mounting point needed to install the starter on the newer gearbox. Without it, the starter cannot be secured correctly as part of the gearbox conversion.
