Nissan Navara D40 & Pathfinder R51 YD25 Duplex Timing Chain Kit
We supply new duplex timing chain conversion kits for selected Nissan Navara D40 and Pathfinder R51 2.5 YD25 diesel engines. You recieve a double-row chain with matching conversion gears and the parts for your selected engine version. Choose the correct kit from the options above the Add to Cart button.
The 2006–2010 kit includes our German-made conversion sprocket for the original D40 vacuum-pump shaft. The two later Euro 5 kits use different version-specific components. Only the 2006–2010 option includes the timing cover gasket.
UK customers should choose UK stock. EU customers should choose EU stock where available. Choosing the appropriate stock location can help avoid unneccessary cross-border charges. Check the delivery terms before ordering.

These year ranges identify the menu options. They arent a substitute for checking the engine version. Pay particular attention to vehicles around the 2010 and 2012 changeovers.
2006–2010 Euro 3 and Euro 4 kit
This option covers the listed Navara D40 and Pathfinder R51 YD25DDTi applications up to 2010. It replaces the original single-row lower drive with a duplex chain and matching gears.
- Duplex timing chain and matching gears.
- German-made conversion sprocket for the original D40 vacuum-pump shaft.
- Timing cover gasket.
- Two essential O-ring seals.
The conversion sprocket is included. You dont need to buy it seperately or strip and modify the original vacuum pump to fit it. Some other conversions require a replacement pump shaft. Compare the installation requirements as well as the kit contents.

2010–2012 and 2012–2016 Euro 5 kits
The 2010–2012 option includes the earlier conversion parts plus the additional components required for that Euro 5 engine version. The 2012–2016 option uses a similar conversion arrangement but some components differ.
These two Euro 5 kits arent interchangeable. Neither includes the timing cover gasket. Match the kit to the engine version and check the selected option photos before ordering.
Optional water pump
A water pump can be added through the product options. It is only included when selected. Inspect the existing pump for leaks and wear during the timing chain work. Replacing a faulty pump at this stage can avoid repeating some of the dismantling later.
What the duplex conversion changes
The relevant common rail YD25 engines use a lower primary chain and an upper camshaft chain. The lower chain drives the fuel pump and vacuum pump. The upper camshaft chain is already double-row.
This conversion upgrades the original single-row lower drive with a duplex chain and matching sprockets. Correct sprocket alignment remains essential. A double-row chain cannot compensate for mismatched gears or an incorrectly assembled drive.
Noise and chain inspection
A startup rattle or unusual timing chain noise needs investigation. Wear can also develop without an obvious rattle. A quiet engine doesnt confirm that the chains and tensioners are in good condition.
There is no single replacement mileage that applies to every YD25 engine. Inspect the chains, guides, tensioners and sprockets using the service information for the exact engine. Looking at the guides alone does not establish the condition of the whole drive.

Cutting out or difficult starting can have several causes. Diagnose the fault before replacing parts. Disconecting the camshaft sensor alone does not establish that the timing chain is worn.
Before fitting the conversion
Keep track of the fuel pump sprocket alignment shim. It can stick to the sprocket during removal and be overlooked during reassembly. The YD25 specialist diagnostic notes explain how leaving this shim out can misalign the sprockets and cause rapid chain wear.
Follow the instructions supplied for the conversion alongside the Nissan workshop procedure for your engine. Check the sprocket alignment and applicable balance shaft timing. Follow the specified crankshaft bolt tightening procedure and complete the manual rotation and timing checks before starting the egnine.
