This Mitsubishi Evo 8–9 timing belt rebuild kit includes the belt drive parts listed below for the 2.0-litre 4G63T engine. The kit contains quality parts including a Contitech timing belt, a genuine Mitsubishi balance shaft belt and GMB bearings. The other pulleys and gears are German aftermarket products.

Suitable for the following Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution saloon models with the original 2.0-litre turbocharged 4G63 engine, commonly known as the 4G63T:

• Lancer Evolution VIII / Evo 8: 2003–2005 model range – chassis code CT9A – 2.0-litre 4G63T.
• Lancer Evolution VIII MR / Evo 8 MR: 2004–2005 – chassis code CT9A – 2.0-litre 4G63T.
• Lancer Evolution IX / Evo 9: 2005–2006 – chassis code CT9A – 2.0-litre 4G63T with MIVEC.
• Lancer Evolution IX MR / Evo 9 MR: 2006–2007 – chassis code CT9A – 2.0-litre 4G63T with MIVEC.

Years vary by market and registration date. Please check the Evolution version and engine fitted to your car. The CT9A chassis code alone does not identify the generation as it was also used for the Evo VII.

Why the balance shaft belt matters

The 4G63 engine has two balance shafts that rotate at twice engine speed to reduce vibration. One is driven by the small balance shaft belt. The other is driven through the oil pump by the main timing belt. This means that removing the small belt alone does not complete a balance shaft delete. If you are keeping the original setup, this Evo 8–9 timing belt kit includes a genuine Mitsubishi balance shaft belt. If you are removing the balance shafts, select the additional parts below and have the conversion carried out correctly.

Optional balance shaft delete kit

If you tick “Balance shaft delete option” above the ADD TO CART button, you will receive the following additional parts:

• Genuine Mitsubishi balance shaft stub: replaces the oil-pump-driven balance shaft during the delete conversion. It includes the oil groove needed for lubrication.
• Balance shaft cap: blanks off the opening left by the removed belt-driven balance shaft.
• Genuine Mitsubishi balance shaft bearing set: installed with the oil holes positioned to block the original oil feeds for the removed belt-driven balance shaft.

The balance shaft delete parts are optional and must be selected when ordering. Removing the balance shafts can increase engine vibration. Correct installation and oil passage blocking are essential.
