VW Transporter T5 and Touareg 2.5 TDI PD Camshaft Kit
The following camshaft kit is for Volkswagen 2.5 TDI PD engines.

These vehicles all have the 5-cylinder 2.5 TDI PD diesel engine.

The camshaft replacement kit has everything you need when replacing a worn camshaft.
Camshaft Bearings
The camshaft bearings are supplied in two separate boxes:
- 1 set of Glyco engine camshaft bearings – 2 pieces
- 1 set of Kolbenschmidt camshaft bearings – 10 pieces
12 pieces in total. These camshaft bearings are heavy-duty, electro-galvanised bearings.
Glyco is an OE-quality supplier. All camshaft bearings are STD size.
Choose the Correct Camshaft
There are two different camshafts for the Transporter 2.5 TDI PD engine. We offer camshafts for both engines, depending on the engine code.
The camshaft part number is either 070109101P or 070109101Q. You must select the correct option for your engine.
VW OE camshaft part number: 070109101P
Suitable for engine codes: AXD, AXE, BAC, BLK, BLJ
Camshaft part number: 070109101Q
For 2.5 TDI engine codes: BNZ, BPC, BPE, BPD
The engine code can be found in your vehicle registration documents (V5). If you still do not know which camshaft you need, please contact us using our contact form. Send us your registration number if you are in the UK, or your 17-digit chassis number.
Included Components
- 10 heavy-duty black hardened top hydraulic lifters by FAI
- 18 camshaft cap bolts – OE 038103714 and 038103714G
- 10 rocker shaft bolts – OE 038103714A
- 5 injector cap bolts – OE 070103385A
- 1 cam gear-to-camshaft bolt (The main pic doesn't show but it is included the set.)
Please make sure that you have the correct engine code before purchasing. The engine code can be found in the vehicle registration document.
Full Kit Option for AXD, AXE, BAC, BLK and BLJ Engines
The full kit option contains:
- Injector seal kit
- End cap, also called the camshaft plug or bung seal
- Genuine OE diamond washer
- Reinz or Elring manifold gasket set (depending on stock)
Please note that BAC, BLK and BLJ engines do not need a rocker cover gasket. The rocker cover gasket for AXD and AXE engines is optional.
Full Kit Option for BPD, BNZ, BPC and BPE Engines
The full kit option contains all of the above-listed components plus an Elring rocker cover gasket.
Full vacuum pump gasket set below. This is optional and not included the full set.
Nitrided Camshaft Option
The nitrided option is a German-made billet steel camshaft supplied by HEwerk in Germany. It is a hardened steel camshaft. The picture below shows the nitrided option.
The forged steel camshaft has undergone a nitriding process, which adds an extra layer of durability. If you do not see this option, it is likely that we are temporarily out of stock.
Please keep in mind that, no matter how good the quality of the camshaft is, leaking injector hubs and seals can allow diesel to enter the engine oil. Please read the bottom of the page.
Nitriding is a hardening process that hardens the outer layer of the material. During this process, the colour of the camshaft changes to dark grey or black.
