Within this kit we offer a AC recharge kit with an essential vacuum pump and the double gauge manifold. It is a good practice to shut off the vacuum pump from the AC system after vacuuming and measure the vacuum drop. If the vacuum drops in 30 mins then that means there is a leak in the system. You may need a leak detector (which we also have in our online store) to find the leak. If the vacuum drops easy and cheap solution to check and/or change the Schrader valve. To shut off the vacuum pump from the air conditioning system you will need an additional valve or a different vacuum pump with vacuum gauge and solenoid. The electronic solenoid will close the vacuum line from the pump and before the vacuum gauge. If there is a refrigerant gas leak then you will see the vacuum drop on the gauge. Many supplier sells digital (micron) vacuum gauge. It provides a precise read however its accuracy depends on the oil in the AC hose line. The most common problem affecting the electronic vacuum gauges is the oil contamination. Oil and other contaminants at the digital vacuum gauge effect the capability to detect changes in the vacuum level. All electronic vacuum gauges are subject to oil contamination. The most common oil contamination is from the vacuum pump. The vacuum in an evacuated system can pull oil out of the vacuum pump when the pump is shut off or looses power. This is why the best and easiest way to use mechanical vacuum gauge with our vacuum pumps.
